Threadbare Horsham FC beaten by Chesham – the match in 48 pictures

The Hornets, who lost key players Sam Howes, Lee Harding and Reece Myles-Meekums to injury last week, trailed to Alex Lafleur’s 28th minute goal.

Jamie Yila struck back for the hosts on 48 minutes – but Chesham needed just five minutes to restore their lead, Jayden Bennetts’ half-volley making it 2-1.

Substitute Marco Haigh’s 88th minute red card then preceded a Horsham collapse. Hisham Kasimu made it 3-1 in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time before Lafleur added his second, and Chesham’s fourth, four minutes later.

The defeat to the Generals sees the Hornets drop to 15th in the National League South.

Horsham’s attentions now turn to an FA Cup second qualifying round clash at league rivals Walton & Hersham this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Hornets have discovered who they will meet in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup. Horsham will host SCFL Premier outfit Newhaven, with the tie to be played on or before October 7.
