Three in a row for Westfield

Westfield made it three consecutive league victories with a 4-2 win away to Steyning Town on Saturday.

Three goals in the closing 15 minutes enabled Westfield to overturn a 2-1 deficit and move up to seventh in Sussex County Football League Division Two.

Gordon Cuddington put Westfield 1-0 ahead with a 30-yard lob and they had chances to increase their lead before Steyning equalised shortly before the break.

Steyning then took the lead with a highly controversial penalty, but Danny Woodley thumped home to make it 2-2. Cuddington put Westfield back in front and set up Woodley to seal it late on.

In the same division, two unbeaten records remained intact after Bexhill United fought out a 2-2 draw in a very good contest at home to much-fancied Littlehampton Town.

Joe Cornwall gave Bexhill a half time lead and a splendid goal by the excellent Steve Morris made it 2-0, but Littlehampton hit back with two goals in quick succession either side of the 80-minute mark.

Little Common stay second on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to another undefeated outfit in Broadbridge Heath. Jamie Crone’s 12th of the season rescued a point after Common went behind.
