Tons of fun at Parish Field

Westfield Football Club is holding a Westfield Legends XI Funday at The Parish Field on Sunday.

The main feature of the day is a friendly match between a Westfield All Time XI and an Arsenal Supporters XI which will kick-off at 2pm.

Former Westfield favourites Mark Drinkwater, John Lambert (the current Sidley United manager), Peter Newstead, Chris Rea and Chris Smith are among those confirmed as taking part.

Westfield’s side is also set to include current first team joint managers Tony Harris and Duncan Jones, plus club captain Peter Baker, and senior players David Miller and Lee Wood.

Besides the football, there will also be appearances throughout the day from a number of children’s TV characters, including Peppa Pig, Ben 10, Dora the Explorer, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, courtesy of 1066 Mascots.

Other attractions include a bouncy castle, soak the coach, penalty competition, crockery shy, raffle, auction (with many items of signed memorabilia on offer including a signed shirt by Gunners legend Liam Brady) and cake stall.

What’s more, there will be displays from the Phoenix Fliers Cheerleaders and Summerfields Gymnastics Club, as well as children’s football coaching by Little Dribblers.

The club is also expecting support from the local emergency services with a fire engine, ambulance and police response car on site for children to have a look round etc. Gates open at 10.30am and admission is free.
