VIDEO: Colbran - ‘We changed the way we played and got it right’

Hornets manager Simon Colbran revealed changes to their tactics in favour of a more attacking midfield led to Ross Morley enjoying a brilliant Man of the Match display and being the driving force behind their 2-0 win in the FA Cup against Faversham on Sunday.

He said Ross had been instructed to play further forward along with fellow central midfielder Byron Napper and this led to a much improved performance.

Morley gave his side the lead in the 22nd minute direct from a free-kick and victory was assured in the 85th minute when Tony Nwachukwu scored their second followed by his customary sumersault celebration.

Colbran said: “The last two games we didn’t get enough players in the box and didn’t create enough chances. We asked two of our midfielders Ross and Byron to push up and I thought the three of them were outstanding. Ross scored an absolutely fantastic goal and was brilliant all game.

“The prize money (£4,500) is brilliant for the club but I didn’t mention the money before the game - I asked them to play for themselves for these good feelings of winning.”
