Hide AdGeorge King doubled Westfield’s lead with a superb individual goal. King was a menace on the left, as was Roberto Martinelli on the right. 16 year old Hugo Corbin,
on loan from Hastings United, controlled midfield in the opening forty five. Corbin’s awareness and decision making resulted in Eastbourne Rangers struggling to get a foot on the ball.
Despite starting the second half two up, Westfield and in particular Dan Tewksbury upped the tempo. Tewksbury turned expertly on the edge of the box and fired in Westfield’s third and his debut goal.
George King’s second goal of the match from long range was parried into the net by Eastbourne Rangers goalkeeper. Roberto Martinelli was then put through by an excellent Ian May through ball to make it five.

Perhaps most pleasing for Westfield was a clean sheet. Jack Stapley and debutant Bradley Kipps were solid at the back, as too were Westfield stalwarts Ian May and Martyn Durrant.
Westfield manager Mark Stapley had the luxury of eighteen players to choose from and with a couple of players to still return from injury, Westfield can look ahead with optimism.

Hide AdWestfield chairman Rob Higgins said: "This was the most convincing first day win since I’ve been in the position.
"We have added some brilliant players and it all clicked into place.
"Going forward we were a constant threat and closed down superbly. At the back we were switched on and when called upon, Gav made some great saves. All in all a very good result for the club and one we can build on for the season."
