Why Crawley Town boss would take two 'minging' performances against Colchester United and Bromley

Crawley Town boss Scott Lindsey said he would take two ‘minging’ performances against Colchester United and Bromley – if he meant he walked away with six points.

The Reds boss has always been a manage who looks for performance over anything else. But after a number of games this season without a win after superb displays, Lindsey said he will take bad performances if they end up winning.

After Saturday’s game at Swindon, where Crawley battered the high-flying side, Robins boss Ian Holloway said his side’s performance was ‘minging', despite the 1-0 win.

And when we asked Lindsey if he would take ‘minging’ performances if it meant `1-0’ wins, he said: “Oh yeah. Normally if you ask me that question I'd say no but I think because of the way the results have gone at the moment we've certainly not got what we've deserved in a lot of games, not just on Saturday but in a lot of games we've not got what we've deserved.

"And certainly Saturday I thought we were outstanding, I really did, I was really pleased and when I watched it back we were even better with a lot of the play I thought was very, very good, very composed and do you know what pleased me more than anything is that we actually limited them to very, very little.

"I can only remember Harvey [Davies] making one save, I know he had the penalty to try and stop but the penalty is a penalty and I think they only had five other shots and a lot of them was from outside the box so we limited a really good side of a joint top are they or second or whatever they are to very, very little so that pleased me more than anything.

"Of course we created a lot of goal scoring opportunities but again they seem to be that invisible brick wall stopping the ball from going over the line but listen I'm pleased, really pleased with that performance and I said to the players this morning if you play like that 100 times you win it 98, we've just got to keep believing in that.”

Reds host Colchester United on Boxing Day and the Bromley on Monday, December 29 (7.45pm kick off).
