The toothless Seagulls display allowed the Glovers to pick up their first home point of the season following five consecutive losses at Huish Park.

Craig Conway, Rohan Ince and Bruno were all introduced into the starting line up while new loan signing Leroy Lita started the game on the bench, but it was Ashley Barnes who came closest to opening the scoring.

The 23-year-old’s link up play with Conway down the left flank ended with the winger whipping a delicious cross into the path of Barnes, but his guided header was met by collected by on-loan goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

The home side were unable to take advantage of Albion’s sluggish attacking play in the first half and threatened only through a tame Fraser Fyvie free kick and a Sam Hoskins header, which was easily dealt with by Tomasz Kuszczak.

Searching for some magic, Oscar introduced Spanish playmaker David Lopez half time in place of Ince, who was struggling to get into the game, but he was unable to provoke the reaction he was after.

Leroy Lita was then called upon to inject some life into the frontline, replacing Barnes around the hour mark, and almost had the dream start to his Albion career but his snap shot was blocked by Shane Duffy.

Lita, who joined on loan last week from Swansea, had another chance to snatch the points for the visitors when his first time effort flashed across the face of goal, and then again when Will Buckley’s pass picked him out in front of goal, but Lita was unable to sort his feet out and ballooned his strike carelessly over the bar.

Buckley himself had the chance to grab a winner after he latched onto a clever through-ball by Andrew Crofts but the former Watford winger skewed his shot past the post.

The draw leaves Albion 14th in the Championship.
