‘You can’t blame one man’ - Crawley Town star explains why players must take responsibility for League Two struggles

Dylan Morgan says people can’t ‘blame one man’ for Crawley Town’s poor start to the season and believes the players need to take responsibility.

Reds have only won one game in the first eight League Two fixtures and that poor form has seen them rooted to the bottom of the table.

And because of that poor run of results, some fans have been calling for changes in management and during Saturday’s draw with Chesterfield, chants were heard saying “time to go” and “you’re getting sacked in the morning”.

But Morgan, who joined the Reds at the end of August, doesn’t think Colin Kazim-Richards should shoulder the blame and he believes results will change given what he has seen in training.

"I’ve come in a little bit later so things are all new to me, but what I see every day in training, the things you work on with the Gaffer, there is a lot of promise here,” he said.

“I know we're saying it a lot and the results might not be matching up at the minute, but I believe as much as everyone here that we can turn things around and when it clicks, it will click. I mean, if you look at the mistakes and the errors we're causing, you can't really point those things at a manager.

“As much as everyone would love to blame one man, you can't, because some of the mistakes we're making, they're unforced errors, they're us. So we have to take responsibility for that. You can't coach people how to clear a ball better or track a man. That's down to you as a player.

“So we need to take responsibility and gather as a team and start to put things right.”

The 23-year-old also said there are quality players in the side and the experience they have on the sidelines is key for them.

He said: “Dukes [Stephen Duke-McKenna;, I haven't seen him play since I came here and then the way he came in against Bromley, scoring goals like that was top. I mean, it's not easy to score goals like that. I mean, three of them in one game is top quality.

“And Gian [Gianmarco Di Biase] works hard every day and he came on and made an impact the other day and I think that's important because subs these days, you're not just the bench player. You're there to win a game.

“And I think there's loads of quality here. I'm learning every day. We have a manager that's played hundreds of games, played Champions League football.

“We've got Julian [Gray] who's played in the Premier League. There's people to learn off every day. There's players that have played at a high level, a lot of experience around me.

“What I see every day is that there's an opportunity to get better. And there's some really good players here.”
