Get into Spirit of Fontwell race day

FONTWELL Park stages a Countryside Race Day featuring the totesport.com National Spirit Hurdle on Sunday.

The first race is at 2.10pm, with seven on the card.

This meeting is one for true jump racing fans and families looking for a fun afternoon at the races.

For racing fans there is the feature race of the season '“ the 60,000 totesport.com National Spirit Hurdle, a recognised trial for races at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival.

The prize money has been increased by 10,000 compared with 2007's event. Last year the race was won in thrilling fashion by Lough Derg.

The card also includes a 25,000 handicap chase, a 20,000 novices' chase and a 8,000 hunter chase.

In addition, there will be a range of countryside attractions, including a falconry display and pets' corner, as well as a face painter and a bouncy castle.

Racegoers can spend the afternoon with pundit John McCririck, pictured, in a hospitality suite, where he will give his tips for the day, teach tic-tac and answer any questions.
