Glynde cricketers to face TV cameras

THE Glynde & Beddingham cricketers will be looking to their hairdos when they appear on Sky Sports's Cricket AM programme tomorrow (Saturday).

The programme is screening features on the village cricket teams this season and Glynde have been selected for their exploits in the npower Village Knockout Cup.

Spokesman Mick Howarth said: 'The boys will have an early start, they've got to go up to London and need to be on the road at 6am.

'Then it's back to Sussex for the league, so it will be a long day. Thankfully we have a local derby at Ringmer tomorrow.'

Glynde won the Sussex village title again when they defeated Outwood a fortnight ago and now face Farnham-based team Rowledge as the competition goes national.

The Surrey club could be a tough nut '“ they were Knockout Cup finalists in 2004 '“ and Glynde are hoping for a bumper crowd at the Recreation Ground on Sunday.

The game starts at 2pm, and the bar will be open throughout with barbecue food also available.

Glynde got to the last 16 of the competition last season before losing a bizarre tie against Kent side Eynsford by 17 runs having dismissed the visitors for a comfortably gettable 162.

Glynde had 30 on the board in just three overs before an umpire took a hand with some highly questionable lbw decisions and the hosts were dismissed for 145 in just 36 overs.
