The Staplecross-based professional clinched a top five place on the third tier Alps Tour order of merit following the final event of the season last weekend.

Evans went into the Masters 13 tournament in France lying third in the standings following his victory at the previous week’s Sardegna IS Molas Open. And although he failed to reproduce the same form, Evans did enough to come fourth in the yearly list.

The 26-year-old began with a level par 72 at Golf de Pont- Royal last Thursday which contained four birdies and four bogeys. But a second round 75 featuring two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey meant he only made the cut on the mark.

Evans carded another 72 in round three which again included four birdies and four bogeys. And he closed with a third 72 on Sunday following three birdies, one bogey and a double to end up tied 22nd on three-over-par.

Evans, who played on the Challenge Tour from 2008-2012, is now looking ahead to European Tour Qualifying School stage two in Spain early next month. A lofty finish there would put him through to the final stage where European Tour cards for 2014 will be up for grabs.
