More than 100 pitch in for Cowdray Stableford

Cowdray Park seniors go from strength to strength and with record membership levels, an incredible 105 took part in the July Stableford.

The conditions were generally benign with one heavy but fairly brief shower. The course was playing well which led to some great scores.

Winner in division one was club vice-captain Dave Lucking scoring an amazing 43 points, playing off a handicap of 11. In second place was club chairman Allan Gormley with 39.

In division two Eric Morrish won with another very good score of 40 points; Ian Heustice was second with 39.

The Rolland Plate medal competition featured 78 players, taking part in a less forgiving format. Due to the closedown, this was the first medal competition.

The course was again in good condition and the greens a bit more receptive. Scoring was impressive with 12 players shooting a nett 70 (par) or better.

Winner of the Rolland Plate was Bill Hummerston with a great nett score of 66, followed closely by Harvey Terry in second place with 67.
