Goodwood offers local racing fans money off to make up for '˜summer'

Local race-goers who have endured the inclement summer weather as they have tried to enjoy racing at Goodwood are being rewarded with reduced priced tickets at their next two meetings - starting with Tuesday (Sep 4) afternoon's meeting.

Goodwood managing director Adam Waterworth explained: “It’s been a testing summer for anyone hosting outdoor activities this year not least Goodwood which hasn’t escaped the summer deluge.

“However, we have a very strong local following and they’ve been turning out in all weathers to enjoy the racing.

“We are so grateful that they have kept coming to Goodwood, ensuring the atmosphere has been terrific, whatever the weather. As a reward to them, we’ve decided to reduce the price of our September tickets to the Gordon Enclosure to just £10 for anyone with a PO postcode.

“This represents a significant saving and is tremendous value for money for local racegoers.”

The reduced priced tickets are only available in advance via the ticket booking office 01243 755055 or online at www.goodwood.com/horseracing simply quoting PO2012. They apply for this meeting and on Wednesday, September 26.

Tuesday’s card is a bumper one lasting four hours and featuring eight races. It kicks off with the Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group Maiden Stakes at 2.20 while the feature is the listed Peter Willett Stakes, also known as the Stardom Stakes.
