A bumper eight-race card is the final meeting of 2014 on the Downs and includes the annual race for National Hunt jockeys and one for conditional riders.

One of Sunday’s highlights will be the presentation of the Dick Hern Trophy to the track’s top trainer for the season.

Richard Hannon – whose father Richard senior has won it five out of the past six seasons – goes into the final card on nine wins, one more than closest rival Mark Johnston.

Both trainers have plenty of entries on Sunday.

Less close is the race to be Goodwood’s top jockey for the year. Richard Hughes seems to have that title in the bag, with his current tally of 12 four better than second-placed William Buick.

Sunday’s racing will be in aid of the The Rifles regiment.

Racecourse MD Adam Waterworth said: “We can’t believe we’re at the end of another season already.

“It’s been a memorable year and Sunday should be a fitting conclusion.

“With eight races it will be one of our busiest fixtures and we’ve had around 200 entries across the card, which is fantastic.”
