GREEN DOES IT AGAIN!

RONNIE GREEN scored the only goal on Saturday, a week after doing so on his debut against Whyteleafe in the FA Trophy. And two 1-0 wins chimes with the aspirations of Rebels' team management.

Assistant manager Danny Bloor declared: "That's a good sign.

"It shows we're heading in the right direction. It's not an exciting scoreline but successful sides win a number of matches this way during the season. We're playing to a system and we're now not giving away silly goals, after working on people in certain areas, in training.

"We're very optimistic that Ronnie will sign for us from Dulwich Hamlet this week. He gives us a new dimension because he's lively and got lots of pace, and he's good with his back to goal, in bringing other players into the game."

Worthing on Saturday go on an even tougher road examination '” to Slough Town where Walsall were knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round proper on Saturday.

Bloor estimated: "This might not be a bad time to go there. Slough probably consider us small fry and may have one eye on the next round, where they play Yeading."

Hendon met Worthing on Saturday a week after defeating AFC Wimbledon 3-0 in front of 1,184 mainly Wimbledon fans in the Trophy. Hendon went out of the FA Cup in the third qualifying in front of 1,328 at Stevenage Borough.

Worthing drew 196 to Clarendon Road on what may be their last visit to yet another potentially vanishing famous non-league venue.

Hendon's ground, reportedly, will be cheaper to abandon than to repair and the club withdrew from their promoted place in the Conference South through lack of finances.

Worthing shaded the first half and scored to nip in the bud a promising Hendon post-interval spell despite having lost Matt Burgess in the 35th minute '” straight redded for a last-ditch tackle from behind on Green.

In the 55th minute, Shaun Grice fed Green at inside-left and when keeper Dave King advanced, Green's placement bobbled inside a post.
