Knowle won the toss and put Salthill into bat on what was expected to be a difficult wicket following rain.

Despite early wickets, captain Alec Wallsgrove made steady progress and hit 51 backed up by Jack Holder (24) and Ashley Court.

Court took over following Wallsgrove’s dismissal, finally finishing on 59 not out, helped by Lee Russell (20) in getting the Fishbourne-based team to a score of 205 for seven.

Knowle resisted well from the start until Nick Bishop (2-26) found a way through, clean-bowling both openers. Salthill continued to take wickets which stopped Knowle gaining any momentum. Graham Ruewell (2-19), Russell (2-29) and Court (2-31) all contributed to a well-rounded bowling attack.

Timmins plus the injured opener Burns, coming in at No11 for Knowle, would not give up the last wicket while getting their side to 165 for nine, but could not stop a Salthill victory.
