Harriers flying high after latest netball triumph

Chichester Harriers are celebrating a 37-15 win over Chanctonbury.

Both teams got off to a tentative start, but by the end of the second quarter Harriers had stretched their lead on the way to securing a dominant win in the Worthing League.

Chanctonbury’s defence was tight in the early stages but the winning combination of effective defence from Julie Lovell (WD), goalkeeper Sam Lippett and Cat Faircloth (GD) undoubtedly shook Chantonbury’s attacking players, severely restricting shooting opportunities.

The opposite end of the court witnessed Linzi Cox (GS) having an excellent game with solid support from Sarah Harvey (GA), Laura Birkhead (C) and Franki Brown (WA).

This enabled Cox to demonstrate the strength of her ability to work around the circle until securing a comfortable shooting position which was executed with precision.

As the Harriers increased the tempo in the third and fourth quarters, Chantonbury struggled to sustain the pace.

Stacey Daniel took up position at goal attack and demonstrated superb agility, enabling her to find freedom from the Chantonbury goal defence

Explosive energy from Brown, who later took over at wing defence, won the team a number of cracking interceptions.

Chanctonbury accepted their defeat with grace but will no doubt be hungry for a rematch later in the season.
