The visiting Hornets appeared to be cruising into the 2nd Qualifying Round after goals from Jamie Cade and Byron Napper had them 2-0 up early in the second half.

Hastings - managed by former Hornets boss John Maggs - pulled one back and then came an ugly flair up between both sets of players which resulted in red cards for Horsham duo Ryan Marriott and Jahmahl King, as well as Tim Olorunda for the hosts.

And from there Hastings ran in three further goals, the first a controversial penalty after skipper Gary Charman was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.

It meant a third cup loss for Horsham in the last seven days and saw them miss out on more than £2,500 in prize money.
