Hawks extend lead at EP

WHITEHAWK Football Club moved seven points clear at the top of County League Division 1 with a 3-0 win at East Preston on Wednesday.

EP were on top in the first half and could have been 3-0 up themselves at half-time. Sonny Banks, Phil Churchill, Kevin Budge and Dan White all missed excellent openings.

And EP were made to pay nine minutes after half-time when Jay Head headed into his own goal from a Whitehawk free kick.

It was 2-0 on 69 minutes when EP keeper Tom Rand mis-kicked a clearance and Gareth Green rolled the ball home.

In the last minute, Craig Bunch, with EP appealing for offside, got Whitehawk's third.

Whitehawk's win moved them seven points clear of second-placed Eastbourne Town, although Town do have a game in hand.

EP remain 10th.
