Haywards Heath Harriers pit themselves against the best

Several Harriers took on the South of England Athletic Association's Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields, London on Saturday.

In muddy conditions over a tough course and against the best athletes in the South, the Harriers fared well.

Leading the way for the Harriers was Darja Knotkova-Hanley in the under 15 girls who finished in an impressive 43rd out of the 250 runners with her time of 19:15 for the 4000m course. Joseph Martin was 142nd amongst the U15 boys in 19:12 over 4500m.

In a biting wind over a difficult 15km, the senior men had five Harriers out with Tom Mullen best placed in 1:00.25.

Seventeen Harriers made the trip to Worthing for their West Sussex Fun Run League four mile fixture on Sunday.

A number of the Harriers used the race as part of their marathon training and having run 13 miles to the start line. Results are not yet available.
