The cold and windy conditions did not make for an open and flowing Kent One match, but H&B raised their game a notch higher than their well-organised opponents and achieved a worthy 11-0 victory against Brockleians.
Work commitments and injuries left the home pack somewhat on the light side, and within two minutes of the start, second row Dominic Sewell was carried off with a leg injury, replaced by Andy Saunders.

Play continued to be close and hard-fought, with both sets of forwards well matched. Saunders was replaced after 30 minutes because of a shoulder injury, bringing Alex Waring into the fray.
The first half ended with Brockleians having a man sin-binned and H&B 3-0 to the good. Ben Campbell came on for Chaz Ackerley during the interval in H&B’s final change.
The second half was much like the first; a forward-dominated struggle with many handling errors from both sides and some strange decisions from the referee.

H&B prop Tony Roche was yellow carded, but Foster kicked a penalty to make it 6-0 in the 75th minute. Waring then dived over in the corner for the game’s only try.
