The rugby club was discovered to have unwittingly fielded two unregistered players in its 21-20 first round victory away to Crawley last month.

Head coach Kevin Smith said: “We had to have our players registered for London RFU and unfortunately two weren’t. I’m disappointed because of the players’ hard work, but we’re doing well in the league and that’s what we’re focussed on.”

Talking of the league, H&B will be aiming to continue a remarkable home record when they take on Old Williamsonians in Kent One tomorrow (Saturday, 2.30pm). H&B are yet to concede a point and have scored 128 in three matches at their William Parker base so far this season.

“Defence has been crucial,” continued Smith. “We have to keep working hard on it at training, though, as that’s the only way we can move forward and continue to win games.

“We need to keep on playing good, steady, sensible rugby. Simple rugby that’s done well is the key for us. Our hooker looks like he will be out for a month and we’ve lost two second rows. However, our injuries give opportunities to other players who are looking to get into the squad.”
