Herbert shows he can take the knocks at Knockhill

Aldingbourne driver Luke Herbert was in action again at the most northerly circuit on the Ma5da MX5 Cup calendar '“ Knockhill near Dunfermline.

He qualified in fifth place for the first race and fourth for the second and third races, held on day two.

Starting on the third row for the first race, Herbert made an impressive start before contact from another driver nearly put him into the tyre barrier.

After rejoining and battling up to fourth and then fighting for third place, he was given a stop-and-go penalty dropping him down the order to eventually finish sixth.

Race two saw Herbert starting on the second row of the grid. After a good start, again contact from behind resulted in a trip to the gravel trap.

He rejoined well down the field and, after some impressive driving, eventually finished seventh.

He was hoping for better in race three and after another good start things were looking good.

There were good battles up ahead and with the top two pulling away Herbert looked a distant third but brilliant driving saw him pull them in.

Herbert ended in fourth spot after a battle which saw him passed on the second-to-last lap.

Despite a disappointing weekend, Herbert is still second in the table heading with his SRC Recycling-sponsored car to Snetterton on July 23.
