Horsham boss Dom Di Paola pleased to get the win

Horsham boss Dom Di Paola was not fussed about how they gained their tenth win in 11 league matches.

Played out on a rough pitch in windy conditions, he was happy just to get the three points rather than trying to win in style against a nine-man team.

He said: “It was just a game to get a result. You just have to win the game.

“It was one of those games that on another day we could have got unstuck. It doesn’t matter how we got the result, I was really just glad to get the win.

“The first couple of minutes they (Wick) had a couple of half-chances but I don’t think our goalkeeper Gareth (Williams) had anything to do.

“We tried to play at times but got a bit caught out, but it doesn’t matter, it’s just a win.

“It was never going to be a beautiful game of football I think, it was really hard to play any sort of football. You didn’t realise how rutted it was. But it was the same for both sides, I suppose.”

“I didn’t realise how strong the wind was until we kicked into it.”

Di Paola praised his captain Joe Shelley for scoring both goals but stressed it does not matter who scores them as long as they go in.

He said: “Biff always comes up with the goods, he’s a good captain for any team. He’s a leader but I am not too bothered who comes up with the goals at the moment as long as we get the win.

“On days like these you just have to keep battling and working hard, getting the basics right and trying not to make too many mistakes.”
