The triple of John Austin, Mick Mansbridge and Alan Fisher were top rink as Horsham IBC beat near neighbours, and outdoor club, Horsham Park, 162-70 in a friendly. And later in the week, Horsham IBC hosted Chessington in another friendly, which saw the visitors win by just two shots. Top Horsham rink went to Judy Butler, Dennis Truscott, Tom Whittington and Mick Porter.

Southwater Sharks were victorious in their West Sussex County NE Div.2 League match at Forest. The Sharks won on both mats to take all six points as top rink went to Kath Bennett, Brian Barnes, Don Puttock and skip Sheila Bonwick (+7). At the same time a third mat was played with Southwater’s four of Ruth Corcoran, Barbara Ayling, Rob Ayling and skip Beryl Simmons 33-16 winners.

Short mat: Mannings Heath Red Squirrels fought back from a perilous position to beat Reigate Park 51-29 and claim all six points. The hosts were struggling until Dave Roberts’ four picked up four shots and Dennis Budden’s team collected two sixes to lead the recovery.

And against Goodwoods Green, Mannings Heath’s White Squirrels picked up three of the six points on offer with a 45-45 draw which could prove crucial in the bid to avoid relegation.
