James fights way to world crown

UCKFIELD'S James Isted (pictured) became a world champion at Ty-Ga Karate at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Sunday.

It was the 26th British and World Championships with over 400 people competing.

James, 19, who trains with the Ty-Ga Karate Club at the Uckfield Civic Centre on Wednesday evenings, won the senior brown belt down to yellow belt division.

For the Kumite (fighting part) he had to fight against three people to win the world title, and this was not an easy task as in the final he received a kick to the eye and a broken toe.

William Miles, 25, also from the Uckfield club, was second in the black belt competition.
