Johnson takes the blame

County League OneRingmer 1 Hailsham 1RINGMER manager Steve Johnson blames himself for the late goal conceded by the Blues in Boxing Day's draw with Hailsham.

He said: 'We've been playing three up and keeping them up when the other side has had corners to keep the opposing centre halves back. This time right at the death I called them all back and Hailsham scored. I made a mistake.

'I was so disappointed with that goal, it was unbelievable, we deserved to win the match and played some good football. I think we bullied them.'

Hailsham manager Ken McCreadie agreed Ringmer bossed midfield but rued the miss of Danny Leach when he was one-on-one with 'keeper Matt May.

Of Ringmer's penalty award he said: 'I don't know if it was a penalty, the ball came up and hit Ryan Alexander on the hand. It was good to score in the 90th minute but I was disappointed because I reckon my players still had too much alcohol in their systems!'

McCreadie is also disappointed with the fixture list. He declared: 'We always get away fixtures at bank holidays which means we get nothing over the bar when we could expect bigger crowds. Clearly the bigger clubs are being favoured.'
