JONES NETS WINNER AFTER EARLY HOWLERS

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club gave the league pace-setters a fright at The Sportsfield on Saturday but could not stop their guests retaining their impressive unbeaten away league record this season.

If preparation is everything then Golds' boss Carl Stabler saw his plans thrown away while he was still settling into his dugout. Inside one minute, Gary Young's mis-control allowed an alert Gavin Jones to dispossess him, and round Wes Hallett to open the scoring.

Just as Stabler must have been tearing his hair out at conceding such a feeble opener, Ross Standen concluded that such an act of generosity should be reciprocated and made a howler of Leighton-esque proportions to hand Golds an equaliser.
