Kids can learn to play cricket from the pros in Sussex

Following the success of Sussex CCC's recent courses in the Farnrise Indoor School, the club are offering children over the age of ten the chance to improve their skills with three masterclasses led by current or ex-professional cricketers.

There are three courses taking place in February half-term, with current Sussex wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Brown leading the first of the courses which focuses on wicketkeeping.

Former Surrey and Sussex slow left-armer Chris Waller will be coaching youngsters in the art of spin bowling, while Chris Liddle, the left-arm seamer from the current Sussex squad, will be fronting a course specific to fast bowling.

The courses are unique at The PROBIZ County Ground as never before have youngsters had the chance to focus on specific skills during the school holidays.

Those children applying to the courses will be expected to have played a reasonable level of hard ball cricket and have a solid grasp of the game itself. They are limited to only 20 youngsters per course and those interested are asked to book early.

* Wicketkeeping with Ben Brown; 14/15 February 1.30pm–4.30pm both days – cost £60 per child

* Spin Bowling with Chris Waller; 15/16 February 10am–1pm both days - cost £60 per child

A generic course for children aged six to nine years will also be held on February 13 and 14 between 10am and 1pm, at a cost of £50 per child. This is a great opportunity for children just starting out in the game to cover all skills.
