King: Let's keep our focus

Lewes Football Club manager Steve King says his players much not lose sight of the Conference South playoffs even though the Rooks have drawn Oxford United at home in the first round of the FA Trophy on December 16.

Lewes came from behind to win 3-2 in the third qualifying round at Banbury on Tuesday evening and King said: 'That victory gave us the plum tie of the round.

'We had a great day against Darlington in the FA Cup and now we're set for another one to help boost the financial side. There's no reason we can't do well against Oxford and if it's a draw we would be on big money for the replay.

'It's a hell of a draw to get Oxford and it's one that you don't expect to come along. They have a good manager in Jim Smith, he has them well organised and they are a strong team.

'The Trophy game is a great side attraction but we must not lose sight of the fact that the league playoffs are what it's all about for us.

'We've got to put the Oxford game to one side and play to our maximum in the league starting with Bedford on Saturday.

'We've got Dorchester on the Wednesday before Oxford but we'll not ask for that one to be put back this time.'

Lewes expect to finalise arrangements for the all-ticket Trophy clash at a meeting with the police and council on Friday.
