Le Trec comes to West Sussex

The fast'“growing Trec sport is coming to West Sussex for the first time on September 10, when enthusiast Kim Tilbury is holding a BHS Affilited event from Woodlands Farm, Slindon.The first event of its kind to be held in the area, it offers an opportunity for both experiences and first time Trec riders to take part.

" It's a very welcoming sport for newcomers. It's very easy to start as a hobby and can become a very competitive sport if you wish. I'm now in my fourth season. I was placed third in the first event I took part in, which gave me a taste for the sport," she said.

Kim is currently competing at the second level, which takes in rides up to 20 kilometres and involves obstacles up to 70 cm.

She rides her 14'“year'“old Welsh/Morgan mare, Connie, in trek events and travels throughout the south east to take part in events.

"It is a very friendly sport and most riders have the necessary equipment'“ you need a hat, boots, and preferably chaps in case you have to do some walking with your horse, and the horse must wear a headcollar and bridle, in case you need to stop, as well as some flourescent markings." said Kim.
