Legge fit for Rooks

LEON Legge is available for the Rooks for the Conference South visit of Weston-super-Mare tomorrow as they face up to the most important eight days of the season so far.Lewes then entertain Bognor Regis on Wednesday evening and tackle a tough FA Cup fourth qualifying round trip to Cambridge City tomorrow week.

The 19-year-old Legge suffered an injury while on trial at Brighton And Hove Albion recently but is now fit again.

Whether Legge '“ who has a two-year contract following his move from Hailsham Town in the summer '“ stays at the Dripping Pan for the foreseeable future is open to question as King said: 'Any player has his price and four or five clubs have been taking a look at Leon recently.

'He definitely has a future in the pro game but he will be in our squad and available for selection tomorrow having missed the last two games.'

King went on: 'The next two league games give us the opportunity to get some wins under our belts. They are both winnable. But I'm happy to be where we are in the league and in the fourth qualifying round of the cup.

'The team is taking longer to gel than anybody thought but I was happy to get through 1-0 against Dulwich.'

At the time of going to press King was working on a short-term loan deal for a player and hopefully it will be completed in time for him to be in the squad tomorrow.

Last season the Rooks completed the double over Weston, winning 3-1 at the Pan and 2-1 away.

Weston have yet to complete a clean sheet in the league this season, shipping 21 goals in nine games and scoring 12, their last league fixture ending in a 5-0 battering at Thurrock.

Lewis Hogg with five and Jon French with four are their main goalscorers this season.

Jack Pearce is sure to have Bognor Regis fired up for Wednesday's game at the Dripping Pan.

Pearce is a feisty character and will not have enjoyed the 3-1 and 2-1 defeats by the Rooks last season.

Lewes's win at the Pan in March was marred by racist taunts at the host's black players by a small number of visiting fans.

Bognor sit level on points with the Rooks and are noted for a good passing game. Lewes will need to match that and are looking for a stronger midfield performance.

Bognor's only away league win so far came 5-3 at Dorchester on the opening week of the season.

The Cambridge City game tomorrow week is worth 10,000 to the winners and King has made a plea to Rooks fans to travel there to back the team.

He said: 'We'd love to see around 150 of our supporters there to cheer on the players. It would give them a great boost.'

The Supporters' Club have organised a coach for the game.

It will leave the Dripping Pan at 11.30am and depart from Cambridge at 6pm. The cost is 10 for both adults and children.

There are 49 places available and seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, payable in advance.
