Leon Balogun 'not a robot', Percy Tau’s South Africa close to crashing out of ACON whilst Graham Potter talks injuries - Brighton round-uo

New Brighton head coach Graham Potter has vowed not to rush back Jose Izquierdo and the club’s other injured players to avoid further damage.

Potter is keen to look at all of the players he has inherited after replacing previous boss Chris Hughton. Brighton’s injury list currently includes Izquierdo, Yves Bissouma and Ezequiel Schelotto.

The manager said: "We have to do the right thing by them (the injured players), not rush them back and make sure they are able to play a part in the season over the whole year as best they can."

Potter said of Izquierdo: "He is still in the early stages of his rehab at the moment, so I don't really want to put any timescale.

Morocco’s 90th minute goal means Percy Tau’s South Africa could be overtaken as one of the four best third-placed teams in the ACON group stages.

South Africa needed to avoid defeat in last night’s match after losing to the Ivory Coast but beating Namibia in their other two group fixtures.

Also in the African Cup of Nations, Albion defender Leon Balogun as admitted his error in Nigeria’s stunning 2-0 defeat to Madagascar.

Balogun said: "I made one mistake that led to a goal. I think I defended everything I needed to defend, I know people will now only focus on that mistake.

"It is football and these things happen and we're all human beings. I'm not a robot."
