Lewis will be revving up with the best

BEXHILL-based speedway sensation Lewis Bridger will be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the sport this weekend.

The 15-year-old will be starring in the same Millennium Stadium as World Champion Jason Crump, Tony Rickardsson and Nicki Pedersen.

The in-form Weymouth Wildcats rider is one of eight riders invited to contest a number of demonstration heats to showcase the country's growing crop of talented youngsters.

Lewis will take to the track during the interval of the British Grand Prix, a meeting that will bring the leading riders in the world to Cardiff.

Such a prestigious opportunity in front of around 60,000 people has arisen following a sparkling first three months in Wildcat colours.

Lewis, who has also savoured success in the fields of motocross, super moto and road bike racing, has already notched a maximum haul of 18 points from six rides in a Conference League meeting away to Sittingbourne. What's more, he was the Wildcats' top points scorer in their victory over high-riding Oxford, the latest in a succession of double-figure rides.

His form reached fever pitch when he bagged a stunning double triumph over 17 other Conference and Premier League (the level between Conference and the Elite League) competitors in the Paul Strank Roofing Open on Sunday.

Three wins and a second place from four races secured the Grade Two Trophy (for newcomers to the Conference League) and the Individual Trophy, in which he finished a single point clear of the runner-up.
