Magnificent seven for dominant Bexhill

Their efforts meant that Bexhill brought home the grand aggregate for club with most points on the day for the fourth time out of four

regattas this season.

The youngsters of the junior 14 mixed quads, Abbi Little, Toby and Max Colledge, and Tom Gouch took the first win of another great day

for the club in the opening race, finishing well ahead of Eastbourne and Herne Bay.

Win number two came came in the next race with Dave Jones, Paul Heskett, Glen Payne and Steve Hopkins leading from the start in the vets’ 50+ race. Race four produced Bexhill’s third win with Mark Mitchell coming first in the men’s senior sculls.

The top race of the day - the men’s senior fours - saw Bexhill’s A crew of Matt Hellier, Kieran Cahill, Doug Holdaway and Mark Mitchell win convincingly.

Win number five came via the junior ladies’ pair of Maisie Hill and Katie Skelton, who dominated from the start.

The sixth success came in the men’s senior pairs with the Mitchell brothers coasting to an easy victory. The crew of Heskett, Payne, Jones and Hopkins took their second win of the day and Bexhill’s seventh in the vets’ 40+ race.

Bexhill also achieved a number of second and third place finishes, including in the ladies’ junior fours race which eventually got underway after one boat had actually turned over in the fierce wind and strong waves.
