Make ours a treble, says Bognor darts winners

An excellent turnout of 24 teams took to the oche over the three divisions – good considering some players were at Selsey for the 2015 England Open.

The division-three knockout saw only five teams take part.

The final saw Gary Blackwood, Gary Miller and Janet Grinstead (Claremont) take on Stuart Turner, Mick Deadman and John Stephenson (ASC).

Grinstead clinched the first leg and Blackwood stepped up and hit the double in the second to take the division-three trebles title for The Claremont.

The division-two knockout saw ten teams trying for the win. The first semi-final saw Andy Chant, Rob Allen and Dave Bourne (Limber Jacks) go out to Steve Aizlewood (BRSA B), Mark R Todd (BRSA Ravens) & Tim McCarthy (Friary C).

The second semi saw Ben and Mark H Todd team up with cousin Bradley Marshall (BRSA Ravens) to beat father and son team Dave and Karl Wingate and Colin Ragless (Friary D).

The first leg of the final was secured by Aizlewood. The second leg saw Mark H Todd take out double eight with his last dart to level it up.

In the third leg, Marshall hit single 18 and double 16 to take the leg and the division-two trebles title for the BRSA Ravens.

Nine teams took part in the division-one knockout. The first semi-final saw Lee Franklin, Dave Owens and Wayne Wadsworth (POW Z) defeat team-mates Colin Mace and Ray Wellfare, plus Connor Durham (Newtown X).

The second semi saw Andy Stubbs, Mark Sheppard and Lee Langford (Hunston Club) beat father and son Roger and Ian Hackett (Wheatsheaf) and Julie English (Friary ‘C’).

The division-one final saw Franklin start with a ton but Hunston got a lead of 100-plus.

Eventually a score of 125 from Wadsworth put the POW in the lead and on a double finish. Owens stepped up and with his three darts he stole the leg.

Stubbs started the second leg with a ton, but Franklin did the same. Langford hit his own ton putting the Hunston team in the lead. Eventually the POW caught up, and with 150 left Owens hit 134 to leave the double.

Sheppard hit 82 to leave his own double, but it was too late, Wadsworth finished the leg with double eight on his first dart to take the leg and the division-one trebles title for POW Z.
