Marigolds Sunk

SPIN doctors are in the news at the moment and Peacehaven provided one of their own to bring about the downfall of Littlehampton in Division I of the County League on Saturday.

His name was Gary Peters and in the second half, he had already sent in a wicked far-post cross for the six-feet-plus Leighton Allen to head the goal that cancelled out Marigolds' half-time lead.

It was in the 80th minute that he tried to get round Shameen Sadough near the corner flag on Peacehaven's left flank.

The Littlehampton youngster got in a good tackle and the ball squirted high in the air. When it came down, it spun vicously back to Peters with Sadough completely wrong-footed.

Peters promptly knocked the ball across the six-yard box, Allen stretched to divert it onto a post and got up well to force the rebound over the line for 2-1.

Five minutes later, Allen completed his hat-trick, without the aid of spin or luck. He simply showed fine control, a wonderful turn and a fierce shot low into the corner of goal from 20 yards.

Score - Littlehampton 1, Peacehaven 3
