MUSSELS RELAXED IN VICTORY

SHOREHAM manager Roger Brace admitted his side had taken their foot off the pedal a little, despite their apparent comfort in defeating Worthing United at Middle Road on Friday evening.

He said: "Maybe we relaxed a little too much, but we were always in control. I allowed myself to be talked into Paul Lockhart taking a penalty, instead of Martin O'Donnell, because Paul hadn't scored all season, so it is partly my fault too."

Lockhart's missed spot-kick came in the opening 10 minutes, after Lloyd Vanson was brought down, and, for the rest of the opening 45 minutes, both sides were employed in a sparring session.

Mussels made more headway eight minutes after the break, when Mark Pulling's corner was insufficiently dealt with, and Warren Levy came in with a firm header from eight yards to give Shoreham the lead.
