National selection for three members of Worthing water polo squad

THE unprecedented success of the Worthing junior squad continues with the selection of three boys for the latest GB national squad.

Ziggy Tate has been selected for the first time as a part of the team of 13 who will play in Portugal at the beginning of May.

He joins Scott Martin and Joel Abbott who have been selected in previous national teams and this is a remarkable achievement for Worthing Swimming club.

All three have worked incredibly hard to reach the standard required to play in international competition and it is pleasing to see Ziggy now gain selection.

Ziggy and Joel both attend the National water polo academy which is based in Grantham and this gives them the chance to continue in full time education as well as training for around 16 hours a week.

Scott remains in full time education at home in Chichester but he trains virtually everyday to maintain the high level of fitness required.

All three boys still turn out regularly for both the Worthing junior and senior teams and they were all part of the squad that won the recent South-east regional men's championship.

This latest success for squad members indicates that Worthing is still developing talented players and this can only serve us well when we make our debut after a 118 year history in the National league in September.
