Davis out of snooker event - even though he didn't lose

Mark Davis bowed out of the Championship League Snooker event – despite not losing a match.

The world number 45 from St Leonards drew all three of his contests in stage two group H – and was never behind in any of them.

Davis finished second in the four-man group with three points - four points behind world number 19 Joe Perry, who advanced to stage three at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.

The 48-year-old drew 2-2 with Perry, who produced a brilliant break of 138 in the final frame having trailed 2-1 and 1-0. Davis’ top run was a 60 in frame three.

Davis also drew 2-2 against Chinese players Li Hang and Tian Pengfei. He led 2-0 against 38th-ranked Li after making breaks of 53 and 78, and 1-0 and 2-1 against 52nd-ranked Tian with a top run of 57.

Davis previously topped his stage one group in October following 3-0 wins over Ali Carter and Jamie Curtis-Barrett, and a 2-2 draw with Chang Bingyu.
