Expect royal performance from Pirate King at Lingfield

What a battle we have lined up in the Betway Handicap (1:40) as seven go to post to wage war over a mile and a half.
Myseven has undoubtedly been in red-hot form winning four of her five last appearances. She was involved in a gritty battle with Cardano on her last appearance and the pair were eventually separated by a head bob in favour of Crisford’s recruit.

Hide AdThe Williams-trained five-year-old has subsequently followed up that second with a success over this course and distance fifteen days ago - sitting prominently before running on well to take the Class 2 handicap.
They are both taken to go well, however the introduction of 7lb claimer William Humphrey on board Myseven could be a slight question mark - whilst the 4lb raise given to Cardano will take a lot to overcome.
The intriguing entry is the Italian recruit Pretending. Marco Botti’s eight-year-old has nine wins from 20 runs on good ground or better and should take to the artificial surface.
Although he won’t probably have enough to take this affair, he’ll without doubt go off at a decent pace - opening the door for PIRATE KING.

Hide AdThe Fellowes-trained gelding has an impeccable record at Lingfield, winning three times from four occasions. He takes to the sharp nature of the track with ease and has illustrated his turn of foot on numerous occasions. Since 2003, Fellowes and Shoemark combine at a 23% strike rate - returning a profit of £22.75 to a £1 stake - and could find another to add to that tally here.
Autumn War is the pick of the Williams’ duo and may be a touch overpriced. The six-year-old is a strong traveller and could pick up the pieces from off the pace now dropping back in trip. He usually wanders about in the final stages of his race, but is worth taking on at 7/1.
Selections: PIRATE KING 4/1, 1.5pts. AUTUMN WAR 7/1, 0.5pts.
