Hastings Half Marathon before lockdown halted town's big race - in pictures

We should be reflecting on another successful and popular Hastings Half Marathon this week - but the continued lockdown has robbed us of the race for a second straight year.

Organisers had to call it off at the 11th hour last year when the first coronavirus wave arrived and led to lockdown No 1 - and a year on we're still not allowed gatherings like the one that sees hundreds do the 13-mile race and hundreds more cheer them on.

Never fear - for two reasons. One, we can take you back to recent races with our gallery of pictures taken by Justin Lycett, Sussex Sport Photography and other contributors; and two, this week's Hastings Observer WILL have news and results from the 2021 Hastings Half - albeit a virtual one. Organisers urged runners to do the distance on their own - either on the Hastings course or an alternative of their choice - and post their times. Well over 100 submitted the times and you can see full results in the paper this week (March 26). For now, on this page and the ones linked, enjoy a trip down Hastings Half Memory Lane.
