Lewes Wanderers take their A game to the A3

A quintet of Lewes Wanderers headed to the A3 near Liphook in Hampshire and  produced blistering times in a Utag RT 10-mile time-trial.

Nick Dwyer’s time of 19min 51sec at an average of 30mph-plus earned only 24th place.

Half-a-dozen places behind, Brett Davis, racing for trainSharp, sliced 12 seconds off his PB and beat the 20-minute barrier by four seconds while Peter Baker’s impressive time of 22:21 placed him 113th.

In 10th and 11th out of the 24 female entrants were Lisa Davis (trainSharp) who reduced her PB to 22:32 and Anna Dwyer (22:41) who improved by 35 seconds.

At the Goodwood Motor Circuit, A3crg hosted another of their five-lap time-trials.

Half-a-dozen Wanderers headed took par over 11.8 miles.

In the category for those on time-trial “rigs” Nick Dwyer proved himself the better of his clubmates. His 24.53 time put him eighth.

Paul Fletcher (26:40 and 24th) jgot the better of Richard Burchett (26:58, 25th) while Dan Street beat knee pain to end 52nd in 28:59.

Anna Dwyer’s 28:41 still placed her eighth out of 14 females, while in the road bike category Rob Pelham recorded 28:46 to claim 12th place.

In the Southern Counties Cycle Union 25-mile event near Dorking Peter Baker placed 24th in 1.05.26.

Dom Lowden competed in the Battle-in-the-Bowl “Open Warfare” cyclo-cross race around Matterley Bowl in Hampshire.

In the over-50 category he plugged in eight consistent laps between 10 and 11 minutes to finish in a creditable fourth place.
