Sussex Supervets head to Devon for third fixture of inaugural season

The Sussex Supervets rugby team will make the journey to Exmouth this Saturday to face Devon in what promises to be another spirited contest in the rapidly growing over-50s rugby scene. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
The match marks the third game in Sussex’s inaugural season and the first outing for the newly formed Devon side. With both teams bringing together experienced players who remain passionate about the sport, the fixture is expected to showcase the enduring appeal of rugby well beyond traditional playing ages.
Sussex captain Kevin McDonald is relishing the trip west and the opportunity to play in one of the country’s most rugby-loving regions where he himself was bought up, before finishing his lengthy career at Hayward Heath.
“It will be great to travel to Devon, a real hotbed of rugby,” said McDonald. “Supervets rugby is for players over 50, but we’re all committed to continuing to play the game we love, whatever the number on our birthday cake. The enthusiasm in the squad has been fantastic and everyone is looking forward to the challenge.”
The Supervets format has been growing in popularity, providing an opportunity for veteran players to stay involved in competitive rugby while maintaining the camaraderie that has always been central to the sport.
Saturday’s fixture in Exmouth will bring together two squads united by their experience, passion, and determination to prove that rugby enjoyment doesn’t diminish with age.
Kick-off is at 2pm.
