Having won the toss Bognor chose to bat first. After three overs with the score on 29-0, 250 plus was looking like a safe bet, but everything changed in the fourth over as Dominic Morgan unsettled the batsmen by taking 4-38.

Opening the bowling, Morgan dismissed both opening batsmen with wonderful catches from Alex Pedley and Charlie Weir.

By the end of the 15th over, Bognor were in trouble at 53-4, as fellow opening bowler Apoorv Wankhade (2-36) bagged his brace to put Bognor in uncharted territory.

Mikey Harris (44) and Josh Seward (38) attempted to rescue the innings for Bognor in a stand of 52, but the pressure from bowling changes Phil Weir (2-35) and skipper Simon Shivnarain (2-30), backed up with excellent fielding throughout the innings turned the screw as Bognor ended their innings on a well under par score of 164 in the 52nd over.

After the break Lindfield opening batsmen Toby Shepperson and Wankhade weathered nine tight opening overs from Josh Sargeant and Ben Woolnough.

However, in an attempt to break the partnership, runs started to flow as Shepperson (39) and Wankhade (109*) constructed their third consecutive opening partnership with a stand of 118 that broke Bognor hearts.

Upon Shepperson’s dismissal, Sajeer Nizam joined Wankhade and together easily secured the win for Lindfield at 167-1 in the 30th over. The win moved Lindfield up to fourth.

This week Lindfield travel to Billingshurst CC.

LINDFIELD CC 2ND XI

Lindfield 2nd XI are blowing hot and cold this season in Division 6 Central, so their visit to Edenbridge CC was an opportunity to see their abilities grow some more.

Choosing to bat having won the toss, Edenbridge soon lost opener Daniel Gardener caught by Joe Newcombe when the score was on 16, from the bowling of Josh Butler.

Ben Phillips then joined opener Jon Woodman and together put on nearly 200 runs (191), with runs seeming to come easily before Phillips (75) was caught by Newcombe with his second catch, again from the bowling of Jayson Butler.

With the 250 runs mark in sight Edenbridge ended their 40 overs on 245-5, Jon Woodman scoring 110, extras 34 and Jayson Butler the pick of the Lindfield bowlers with 4-28.

Having sustained an injury when fielding, Andy Stillwell was not able to open the batting for Lindfield and that was just the beginning of an innings that wilted in the heat, seeing wickets fall regularly and only two batsmen reach double figures, Ryan Tooms (12) and Will Saunders (11).

The Edenbridge bowlers Luke Boakes (3-15), Andy Hill (4-26) and Liam Dawes (2-7) pruned the Lindfield batsmen to 56 all out in 18 overs to win the match.

LINDFIELD CC 3RD XI

After some recent disappointing performance Lindfield CC 3rd XI bounced back with a comprehensive eight-wicket win away to Keymer & Hassocks CC 2nd XI in Division 8 Central.

On winning the toss Lindfield decided to field first and found the opening batsmen in fine form, with Ed Hollingdale (33), Richard Marsden-King (36) and Ross Watkins (23) giving the innings a solid platform to build a formidable total.

However, some wonderful bowling from young Bradley Bover (2-25) and the ever-reliable Redwan Chowdhury (5-40) restricted Keymer & Hassocks to 197 all out in 39.4 overs.

Despite the loss of an early wicket, Keymer & Hassocks struggled to make inroads into the Lindfield batting as skipper Scott Clark (91*), John Sage (42) and Peter Vinall (39) rolled back the years producing match winning partnership to seal the Swans second victory of the season.

This week Lindfield are at home (Hickmans Lane) to St Andrews CC 2nd XI match at 1pm.

Scaynes Hill won the toss and decided to field first and bowled well with Samual Parker (3-8) and Simon Berrill (2-14) being the pick of the bowlers.

However, solid batting from Lindfield’s batsmen Danny Baker (42), Hayden Baker (22), James Burnage (21), James Campbell (35) and Stuart Kirbell (17) ensured maximum batting points as their innings closed on 154 all out in the 32 over.

Scaynes Hill lost early wickets and despite Leo Gallon (26), Chris Edwards (17) and Simon Berrill (14) batting well, struggled against Lindfield bowlers with Peter Booth (4-12) in particular fine form.

He was well supported by Henry Foulkes (2-19), James Campbell (2-21) and Paul Nash (1-12) as Scaynes Hill were all out for 108.

This week Lindfield are away to Keymer & Hassocks CC 3rd XI match at 1pm.
