Parrett overcomes the odds for a fine finish in the TT

Mark Parrett returned from the Isle of Man last week with five bronze replicas to mark his notable achievements in the TT races.

Riding his BMW S1000RR, the Midhurst speedster finished 18th in the prestigious TT senior race, coming in just seven minutes behind winner John McGuinness - after two hours of racing covering 228 miles on public roads.

Parrett also had a fantastic finish in the Superstock race, where he was placed 14th, again on the BMW. He flew round the circuit at an amazing average speed of 122mph over a total of 152 miles – four laps of the island circuit.

He had a good finish in the first Supersport race but then ran into bad luck, retiring only five miles into the second race because of electrical problems with the quick shifter on his Yamaha R6.

During practice week when out on the Superbike, Parrett noticed issues with the handling of the machine and the team made the decision to run the bike on treaded tyres.

To start the fortnight on the island with mechanical problems and then to celebrate 18th position in one of the most famous races in the Wworld was a tremendous start to Parrett’s road racing season.

Loyal mechanics Andrew Hinton, Jason Davies and Tom Dickie give up their time to travel with Parrett and support him while he races. His father is also an integral part of the team and has been there from the start, keeping all the team fed, watered and looked after throughout the long days and hard work.

Parrett’s next outing will be to the Southern 100 races. He’ll go to the Ulster Grand Prix in August before heading straight back to the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT races.

He also hopes to get a ride in September at the Goodwood Revival, which he has been part of for the past four years.
