PAV in trophy deal

A WEST Sussex computer specialist company has picked up the sponsorship baton for the Sussex Inter-Club Matchplay Championship.

PAV i.t. Services is taking over from Davies and Tate and managing director Mike Borissow has agreed a two-year deal with the county union.

The sponsorship, involving backing of 20,000 a year, with an option for a further period, follows PAV's successful support for Sussex County Cricket Club from 2002 to 2006.

"Those were the most successful years in Sussex's history, the best in fact," said Borissow. "We were very glad to be associated with the club and it is to be hoped there will be as much success in Sussex golf and that the county will use the money to develop young golfers, because that is the future."

The marketing outlay by Sayers Common-based PAV for Sussex CCC over four years was in excess of 1m, during which time the county won two champions for the first time and a NatWest pennant.

An 11-handicap member at West Sussex, Borissow paid tribute to Phil Davies, whose replacement windows company in Uckfield supported the Sussex Inter-Club Matchplay Championship for 15 years.
