PIPPA POISED FOR TOP AWARD

ONE of ten riding instructors from all over the UK who will be battling it out later this week to be crowned as Instructor of the Year by the British Horse Society (BHS) is Pippa Winkworth of Crawley.

Pippa (30) has already won a tough regional final for the south-east to earn a coveted place in the final.

She is a qualified equine sports therapist and riding instructor.

Following years of training, she developed a passion for teaching and sharing her knowledge to help horses and riders reach their true potential.

Last year the BHS developed a new style of competition for aspiring ytoung riding instructors and coaches- the BHS Instructor of the Year Award.

The regional finals involved a day of instruction in rider position, dressage, jumping and theory sessions.

The idea was to develop coaching skills that will improve training standards, as well as helping individuals with their own professional development.

Pippa entered the south-east regional qualifier in August and is working hard in preparation for the finals.

It will be the last year that she will be able to enter as she will be too old next year.

It all started when she was four years old at a local riding school. By the time she was six she was helping to look after the ponies on a daily basis.

This provided the foundations of a life-long career with horses, and she was fortunate to have her first horse when she was 12 years old.
