PROMOTION STILL ON FOR PRESTON

EAST PRESTON kept their promotion hopes alive with a last-gasp Simon Clayton equaliser for a point which was thoroughly deserved against a determined Worthing United side.

Vic Short's side were able to relax a little more after the game, in the knowledge that their main rivals, Eastbourne Town and East Grinstead, had also failed to win, leaving EP to know that their fate for next season was in their own hands.

It was East Preston who, in the opening exchanges, had all the possession but could not press home their advantage. Indeed, it was United with their first shot of the match, who nearly went into the lead in spectacular fashion on the half-hour. Nigel Waller hit a speculative effort from 35 yards, which just went wide of the post.
