£100k up for grabs at Flat opener
Goodwood races into action on Saturday May 5 with the opening fixture of the new Flat season. With £100,000 in prize money up for grabs, the action packed, seven-race card kicks off with the first race - the Begbies-Traynor Stakes (Handicap) at 2.25pm.
The feature race of the afternoon is the newly sponsored Listed race, the EBF Begbies-Traynor Conqueror Stakes. Run over a mile for three-year-olds and upwards (fillies and mares), this race is sure to attract a strong field. Last year saw victory go to Nantyglo under the guidance of Richard Quinn, giving trainer Michael Bell his first win of the Goodwood season.
